On June 24, 2014 I will be presenting a paper at an event in London dedicated to the work of James Tully. My presentation is entitled “Discursus Interruptus: Revisiting James Tully’s Democratic Conception of Public Philosophy”. More information about the conference can be found here.

I will organize a workshop on the tension between spectating and acting in contemporary democracies. The detailed programme, including the abstracts of the presentations, can be found here. To register please follow this link. (Eventbrite)

I look forward to welcoming you in Edinburgh!

Together with Jamie Cross I have recently launched a new podcast series, entitled The Global Conversation. This is intended as a series of interviews with academics, activists and practitioners whose work is directly concerned with issues of global justice and international development. Our work is supported by a Knowledge Exchange Grant from the University of Edinburgh.

The first two interviews, with Louise Chappell and Duncan Green, are now online. If you want to listen to them, please go to our iTunes website.

We have now started populating the project’s events page with news items. In a short while, there will also be some information about a one-day workshop in June, with several international speakers. Check back soon…

On October 9, 2013, Mathias Thaler participates in a roundtable on various aspects of the morality of intervention in Syria. This event is organized by the Amnesty International Society. More information can be found here.
